Marian’s Easter Dress | New Look #6927

It’s been a busy few weeks with the release of my Archer Rabbit pattern and then having to quickly whip up Marian’s Easter dress! This year I chose a cute matching set from Simplicity patterns, New Look #6927. Unfortunately, no matter how strange this sounds, the pattern seems to have disappeared from the Simplicity website! I don’t know what the deal is there but due to that fact, I don’t have a link for you. If you like the pattern you can Google it and see if maybe you can get a copy from Ebay or something.

I chose look B for the dress and D for the coat. The pattern was easy to poke out which was great as I didn’t have much time but I do wish there were some finishing details worked into the pattern like a lining for the coat. I chose a basket weave coating from Harts Fabric in mint that is super soft and has a beautiful color but it looked a bit thin and unfinished without the added structure of a lining. Had I more time I would have taken the time to figure out how to put a lining in but I just stuck to the pattern so I didn’t lose my mind. In any event it came out beautifully except being maybe a smidge too long but again, time time time. I’m just glad she wasn’t naked.

Moving on to her dress I chose a bright and colorful lawn by Melody Miller for Cotton and Steel and a solid lawn in mint from Harts Fabric. I’ve never worked with lawn before and its very light weight so I had to work a lining into the skirt which wasn’t included in the pattern but it worked out just fine. I don’t have much to say about the pattern really, everything went off without a hitch! An overall good quality pattern that comes out just as you think it will and quickly. Can’t ask for anything more than that!

The back is equally as adorable with a cute bow that I had to Google in order to tie it right. I guess I can’t make fun of Ben for watching YouTube videos about tying a necktie anymore.

I finished off the whole look with a cute matching hair bow using my tutorial from last years Easter dress. So that’s it! Easy pattern, easy construction, cute little outfit!

I hope you all had a happy Easter weekend! ENJOY!
