I’m not sure I can use my pregnancy as an excuse for things much longer but anything that happened during the first trimester I give myself a giant pass. Between naps and bouts of nausea I didn’t do much except keep a poor neglected Marian alive so anything work related wasn’t just put on the back burner, it was dumped in the corner with the rest of the dirty dishes and dust bunnies.
Anyhoo… In case you missed it I had a cute little pattern in the Dec. ’15/Jan. ’16 issue of Sew News for a little sewing tool tote.
You can hold everything in this little caddy from big items like patterns and scissors, to thread spools, pins, fabric pens, and binding tapes. You also get a bonus template for an adorable removable pin cushion.
Now, as a little bonus I did two other projects perfect for gift giving (this was all originally designed for the holiday season but they work so well for giving all year round) exclusively for Sew News through Shop Sew It All! The first is an oven mitt pattern that when stuffed with cute kitchen essentials makes a great gift for the avid hostess or as a house warming present! You can find the oven mitt for sale as a PDF download in Shop Sew It All.
Last but not least I designed a cozy spa sock you can whip up in no time! Pair them with a few spa essentials and you have an excellent gift for a mom-to-be, Mother’s Day, birthdays, or for yourself! This pattern is also available for sale as a PDF download in Shop Sew It All.
Before I go (take a nap), let’s talk about the awesome fabrics that were all graciously supplied to me by Riley Blake Fabrics. For the sewing tote I used a variety of prints from their Sew Charming collection in the coral colorway by Bo Bunny. I also used the Sew Charming collection’s main floral print in coral for the outside of the oven mitt with a matching aqua solid for the inside of the mitt and bottom trim, also from Riley Blake. The spa socks are shown with the pink colorway of The Quilted Fish’s Cottage Triangles print from her collection, The Cottage Garden. The inside of the spa socks are a minky/cuddle fabric I had on hand in my studio.
